Local Waters Forecast for Port Phillip

for the period until midnight EST Sunday 12 September 2010.

Strong wind warning for Port Phillip.

Weather Situation
A weakening cold front will cross western Bass Strait during Thursday afternoon
before slipping away southwards. A stronger cold front will approach Victoria
Thursday night and will sweep across the State on Friday morning with an
associated low pressure trough crossing Bass Strait. A high pressure system
will move across South Australia and New South Wales during the weekend. The
next cold front will approach western Bass Strait later on Sunday.

Forecast for Thursday until midnight
Winds: Northerly 15 to 25 knots, reaching 30 knots at first, easing to a north
to northwesterly at 15 to 20 knots around midday. Seas: Up to 2 metres abating
to 1 metre. The chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening with
possible squalls over 35 knots.

Forecast for Friday
Winds: West to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots tending westerly 20 to 25 knots by
early evening. Seas: 1 to 2 metres.

Forecast for Saturday
Winds: Northwesterly 20 to 25 knots decreasing to 15 to 20 knots during the
afternoon then increasing to 20 to 25 knots during the evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5
metres.

Forecast for Sunday
Winds: Northwesterly 20 to 25 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots during the
afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres increasing to 2 metres during the afternoon.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:40 pm EST Thursday.
